Vertebroplasty and Cementoplasty

Vertebral fracture stabilization · 85% pain relief · Overnight stay

🔹 Principle

Vertebroplasty involves injecting surgical cement (PMMA) into a fractured or weakened vertebral body under CT or fluoroscopic guidance. The cement hardens within minutes, stabilizing the fracture and dramatically reducing pain.

🔹 Indications

Osteoporotic vertebral fractures resistant to medical treatment. Vertebral metastases or myeloma with pain and instability. Painful vertebral hemangiomas.

🔹 Procedure

1-night hospitalization. Local anesthesia and sedation. CT or fluoroscopic guidance. Trocar placement in the vertebral body. Cement injection under real-time control. Duration: 30 to 90 minutes.

🔹 Recovery

Mobilization possible 2 hours after procedure. Rapid pain relief (24–48h) in over 85% of cases. Discharge the following morning after radiological verification. Physiotherapy recommended.
