❓ Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral to be seen? +
Yes. A letter from your GP or specialist is required. You can send it by email to ri.cch@aphp.fr along with your recent imaging. We will organise a consultation promptly.
Are there any extra fees? +
No. Cochin Hospital is a public AP-HP institution (Sector 1). All consultations and procedures are billed at the standard French health insurance rate, with no additional charges.
Will the procedure be painful? +
The vast majority of procedures are performed under local anaesthesia. You may feel mild pressure but not significant pain. Light sedation is available for longer or more anxious cases. We also offer medical hypnosis and virtual reality (HypnoVR) to improve your comfort.
Can international patients be treated at Cochin? +
Yes. We regularly treat patients from across France and abroad, particularly for our reference specialties: parietal endometriosis cryoablation, desmoid tumours, knee osteoarthritis, and thyroid radiofrequency ablation. Please email your imaging and referral letter to ri.cch@aphp.fr — we will arrange consultation and procedure on consecutive days where possible.
