🧭 Your care pathway in interventional radiology

This page describes the typical course of care in the Department of Interventional Radiology at Cochin Hospital AP-HP, from the first consultation to follow-up. As every situation is different, your precise pathway will be explained to you in consultation.

1️⃣ Before the procedure

• Your case is reviewed, if necessary at a multidisciplinary team meeting.
• A consultation with the interventional radiologist explains the indication, how the procedure will unfold, the expected benefits and the alternatives.
• A preliminary work-up (imaging, blood tests) and, if needed, an anaesthesia consultation are arranged.

2️⃣ On the day of the procedure

• Most procedures are performed as a day case or during a short hospital stay.
• Procedures are image-guided (ultrasound, CT, angiography) for great precision.
• A care team monitors you and ensures your comfort during and after the procedure.

3️⃣ After the procedure and follow-up

• You are given clear discharge instructions and an appropriate prescription.
• A scheduled follow-up (consultation, imaging) allows the result to be assessed.
