The Department of Interventional Radiology at Cochin Hospital AP-HP structures its research activity around several themes, in collaboration with the Radiology A team and our partners. This page presents these themes; the full list of our publications and clinical trials is available on our Research & Publications page 🇫🇷.
Interventional oncology
Percutaneous ablation techniques (radiofrequency, microwave, cryoablation), chemoembolization (TACE) and radioembolization (Y90) for liver, kidney and lung tumours. Our team contributes to leading reviews on how this field is evolving internationally.

Women's health
Parietal endometriosis cryoablation (a pioneering area for the department), uterine fibroid and adenomyosis embolization, pelvic congestion syndrome. Our work contributes to French guidelines on these conditions.

Interventional & musculoskeletal pain management
Genicular nerve embolization and radiofrequency in knee osteoarthritis, percutaneous cryoneurolysis for chronic neuropathic and cancer-related pain.

Artificial intelligence in imaging
Applications of AI to diagnostic assistance and tumour characterisation, predictive imaging in abdominal oncology, and screening (the CASCADE trial: low-dose CT lung cancer screening in women, with AI-assisted reading).

Patient comfort during procedures
Evaluation of Ericksonian hypnosis during interventional radiology procedures performed under local anaesthesia (the HYPNO-RI trial), with a first randomised trial published on liver biopsy.
