Radiology B ยท Spine and limb imaging

๐Ÿ“ EOS: full-body X-ray

Very low-dose standing X-ray: scoliosis, lower limbs...

Quick answer

EOS produces 2D and 3D images of the entire skeleton in a standing position, with a radiation dose up to 9 times lower than a conventional X-ray. It is indicated for scoliosis assessment, prosthetic planning and study of the lower limbs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the EOS system?
It is a low-dose imaging technique that produces images of the skeleton in a standing position (frontal and lateral views simultaneously), with much lower radiation than standard X-ray.
What conditions is EOS indicated for?
It is particularly used to study spinal alignment (scoliosis, pelvic balance) and for preoperative orthopaedic assessment, especially in children and adolescents thanks to its low radiation dose.
Is the EOS examination painful?
No, it is completely painless. You simply stand still for a few seconds in the acquisition booth.
